TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — Hurricane Milton continues to maintain its forceful strength over the central Florida peninsula late Wednesday night. It made landfall near Siesta Key in Sarasota County as a category 3 storm.
Maximum sustained winds are now at 85 mph as the center is off the coast of eastern Florida on the Atlantic coastline.
Highest rainfall totals stayed well to our south where Flood Emergencies were issued early Thursday morning were ongoing through Central Florida.
Power outages are widespread with over a million without power this morning.
Storm surge warnings remain effect for parts of Florida's coastline as onshore wind continues as Milton moves east.
